FAQS

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

File format
Our preferred file format for printing is high-resolution (minimum of 300 dots per inch (DPI)) Print ready/Press quality PDF. If the final product is a booklet or multiple pages, save as single pages rather than spreads.

Bleed and crop marks
Set a minimum of 3mm bleed (refers to extending of design elements beyond the trim edge of the page/s). This will ensure there are no white edges when the final product is trimmed to finished size. Select ‘bleed’ and ‘crop marks’ in your export function or save as ‘pdf for print’ and check bleed and crop marks.

Fonts and text
Embed or convert to outline all fonts used in your design to avoid any font-substitution issues.

Image quality
Ensure the images you have placed in your design are high-resolution (minimum of 250dpi) and sized/enlarged correctly for the final product size. Avoid using low-resolution (72dpi) images as they will appear blurry or pixelated when printed. Logos are usually best placed in your file as vector formatted versions.

Colour
Convert your file/images to CMYK to ensure accurate colour reproduction. Our rip will convert RGB supplied files to CMYK.

Proofs
When viewing electronic proofs or your artwork file before sending to us, be sure to open up the pdf in Acrobat reader to check for accuracy, not in preview mode, as some elements may not view correctly.
